Term: All positions are on contract baseBackgroundEthiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is a national organization mandated to manage, build research capacity, and promote and strengthen public health research activities in the country. The institute also synthesizes comprehensive health-related data and evidence that public health-related decision-making relies on. Currently, EPHI, in collaboration with partners, is planning to conduct the HIV Bio-Behavioral survey among Female Sex Workers (FSW) in Ethiopia.&nbsp;As part of implementing the study, the EPHI would like to announce a vacancy for competent and interested individuals for the following posts. The qualified individual will be functioning in collaboration with a member of the HIV survey team.Required Number ----(11 total)Bahir Dar, Mekele, Gambella, Gondar, Addis Ababa, Hawassa, Adama, Dire Dawa and Addis Ababa. These sites could be amended depending on survey demand or other situations.Duration of Contract:&nbsp;For 3 months, with possibility of extension.Salary: Based on the Institute contract payment scaleReport to: TB &amp; HIV Research DirectorateDuties and responsibilities&nbsp;HIV Counselor&nbsp;is responsible for a professional in providing essential counseling services to the participants of HIV/AIDS bio behavioral survey among highly vulnerable population in Ethiopia. She/he must be good at providing advice, aware, inform people and help them to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS infection.<ul><li>Obtain informed consent from eligible study participants</li><li>Conduct interview or oversee the interview process(if using self-interview)</li><li>Ensure that information collected is securely saved and/or stored after the interview</li><li>Assist in the collection, processing and storage of biologic specimens</li><li>Provide pre-and post-test HIV counseling based on testing guideline&nbsp;</li><li>Complete relevant forms and processes</li></ul>Required skill&nbsp;<ul><li>Experience in HIV bio behavioral survey and or surveys involving Venus blood drawing, storage and processing&nbsp;</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills&nbsp;</li><li>Experience and training in the area of HIV testing and counseling, ART and ANC&nbsp;</li><li>Experience and training in quantitative and qualitative data collection&nbsp;</li><li>Certified training on HIV testing and counseling (HCT) and familiar with national HCT&amp; ART guideline is mandatory.&nbsp;</li><li>Fluency in local language is a major advantage.</li></ul> &nbsp;&nbsp;

HIV counselor (Only Female)

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute(EPHI) is established by the council of ministers regulation No. 301/2013 which recognize the Institute an autonomous federal government office having its own legal personality. The institute is accountable for the Federal Minister of Health. The institute shall have the following objectives:
1.&nbsp;Undertake research, based on&nbsp; national public health research agenda, on priority health and nutrition problems, and&nbsp; generate, absorb and disseminate scientific and technological knowledge to improve the health of the general public;
2.&nbsp;In collaboration with the concerned bodies conduct surveillance for the early identification and detection of public health risks and prevent public health emergencies through adequate preparedness; and alert, warn and dispatch timely information during public health emergency, respond effectively and timely and ensure rapid recovery of the affected population from the impact of the public health emergency;
3.&nbsp;Strengthen&nbsp; its laboratories with trained man power and technology to undertake problem solving researches provide effective response to public health emergencies, carry out referral diagnostic and analytical tests; and support the capacity building of health and food science laboratories at the national level to enable them provide quality&nbsp; laboratory services.
The Institute secures average annual revenue of 25 million Birr and more than 20 million USD (in cash and in kind) from different donors.
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute, EPHI shall have advisory board in respect of policy, strategy and other major institutional matters.
