Marie Stopes International Ethiopia

Under the general direction of the MCH Specialty Centre Manager, the MCH Centre OPD Head is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and coordinating the activities of the MCH Centre outpatient services. This role ensures the effective and efficient delivery of clinical MCH services.&nbsp;<ol><li>DUTIES/TASKS</li></ol>&nbsp; &nbsp;Strategy and Planning<ul><li>Contributes towards MSI Ethiopia program sustainability and increasing access to family planning and SRH services in Ethiopia through proper MCH services.</li><li>Participates actively in the MCH Centre management team and facilitates quarterly performance reviews of service uptake.</li><li>Contributes to annual business plans and facilitates the business planning process (service target setting and activity planning in MCH Centre).</li><li>Participates in MCH services annual targets setting and ensures the implementation of targets.</li><li>Prepares and submits work plan and budget for OPD services.</li></ul>&nbsp;Team Leadership&nbsp;<ul><li>Provides overall leadership and direction to the OPD staff.</li><li>Coordinates the OPD unit and organizes, deploys, and supervises the OPD staff in accordance with MSIE HR policies.</li><li>Sets up effective communication systems within the OPD staff and other units of the MCH center, technical and operational teams.</li><li>Establishes the priorities and focus of the OPD services under the MCH center and ensures proper alignment with overall priorities of the MCH center.</li><li>Coaches and provides expertise in developing strong technical skills amongst the OPD team.</li><li>Monitors and tracks MCH services provided by the OPD staff and controls the quality.</li><li>Ensures that OPD staff are motivated in their service provision.</li><li>Ensures all human resource issues for the OPD staff are handled according to the MSIE procedures.</li><li>Assesses training needs and arranges training in consultation with the MCH Centre Manager to build the capacity of OPD staff regularly.</li><li>Conducts mid-year KPI reviews and annual performance appraisals for the OPD staff.</li></ul>&nbsp;MCH Services<ul><li>Ensures the maintenance of efficient delivery of client care.</li><li>Performs nursing duties, as required, including providing MCH services and disseminating health education/information at OPD.</li><li>Facilitates subsidized/free services for eligible clients, as per the organization’s standing regulations.</li><li>Ensures clients’ cards and medical records are properly filled in and readily retrievable for reference and inspection.</li><li>Prepares and submits both quantitative and qualitative reports of OPD services periodically.</li><li>Reports clinical incidents on time as per MSIE guidelines.</li><li>Collaborates in the evaluation of clinical programmes and research undertakings and applies research findings.</li><li>Ensures that service delivery at MCH units meets all of MSIE’s guidelines and standards for quality of clinical care.</li><li>Directly supervises service delivery sessions with providers and ensures that medical staff prioritize the client in all interactions.</li></ul>&nbsp;Resource Management<ul><li>Provides overall leadership and direction to the OPD staff.</li><li>Coordinates the OPD unit and organizes, deploys, and supervises the OPD staff in accordance with MSIE HR policies.</li><li>Sets up effective communication systems within the OPD staff and other units of the MCH centre, technical and operational teams.</li><li>Establishes the priorities and focus of the OPD services under the MCH centre and ensures proper alignment with overall priorities of the MCH centre.</li><li>Coaches and provides expertise in developing strong technical skills amongst the OPD team.</li><li>Monitors and tracks MCH services provided by the OPD staff and controls the quality.</li><li>Ensures that OPD staff are motivated in their service provision.</li><li>Ensures all human resource issues for the OPD staff are handled according to the MSIE procedures.</li><li>Assesses training needs and arranges training in consultation with the MCH Centre Manager to build the capacity of OPD staff regularly.</li><li>Conducts mid-year KPI reviews and annual performance appraisals for the OPD staff.</li></ul>
