External Vacancy AnnouncementUnion of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA) is a non-governmental, apolitical, non-religious consortium of 80 Women/Girls and Children-focused local CSOs that are engaged on women and girls Empowerment and advancement of Gender Equality in all regional states and city administrations of the country. It was established in 2010 as a consortium to empower and voice the voice of its beneficiaries and member CSOs as well as capacitate and coordinate the efforts of member CSOs for the realization of their common goal, which is ensuring gender equality, and empowerment of women, girls, and children.&nbsp;Union of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA), with the support of the African Development Bank (AFDB) through Farm Africa, is launching a project entitled "Gender Transformation and Climate Resilience in Afar and Oromia Regions". As part of this project, UEWCA is looking to fill the above-mentioned position.Duty Station: Afar Regional State,Awash Fentale Woreda, Awash Sebat KiloSalary: Based on Organizational Scale&nbsp; Contract Duration: One year, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.Key Responsibilities:<ol><li>Lead Climate Resilience Strategies:<ul><li>Design and implement gender-responsive climate adaptation and mitigation activities aligned with the project's objectives.</li><li>Collaborate with local communities, government bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective integration of climate resilience practices.</li></ul></li><li>Research and Analysis:<ul><li>Conduct climate risk assessments and vulnerability analyses in the Afar region to inform project interventions.</li><li>Monitor climate change trends and recommend adaptive measures to enhance the resilience of women and marginalized groups.</li><li>Facilitate and support gender analysis&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Capacity Building:<ul><li>Provide training and technical assistance to local communities, particularly women-led groups, on gender, climate change adaptation, sustainable agricultural practices, and natural resource management.</li><li>Strengthen the capacity of local government and civil society organizations in implementing gender-responsive climate-smart initiatives.</li></ul></li><li>Collaboration and Networking:<ul><li>Engage with regional and woreda-level platforms, networks, and initiatives to share knowledge and experiences.</li><li>Collaborate with other project-implementing organizations (consortium members) to ensure cohesive implementation of climate change strategies.</li></ul></li><li>Reporting and Documentation:<ul><li>Prepare detailed reports on the accomplishment of project activities.</li><li>Document best practices and success stories to promote learning and inform future projects.</li></ul></li></ol>
