The organized movement of persons in need of international migration assistance is a primary mandate of the Organization and a cornerstone of IOM’s operations. This mandate has resulted in the international transport of more than 15 million migrants and refugees worldwide. Movement Operations Units in various IOM Country Offices, coordinated under the Division of Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM) in the Department of Operations and Emergencies (DOE) at IOM’s Geneva Headquarters (HQ), are responsible for all aspects of travel for migrants and refugees under IOM’s auspices, in accordance with the various framework agreements with resettlement and receiving Governments and partners across the spectrum of the Organization's programmes.IOM is committed to a diverse and inclusive environment. Internal &amp; External candidates are eligible to apply to this vacancy.BackgroundUnder the direct supervision of the Senior Laboratory Technologist and the overall supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO), the incumbent will assist the operational activity of laboratory services with respect to Migration Health Assessments (HAP) and other programmes implemented by the IOM Migration Health Division in Addis Ababa, EthiopiaCore Functions / Responsibilities:&nbsp;<ol><li>Work with laboratory staff to conduct various activities including specimen collection, specimen transportation, reagent and test preparation, and laboratory testing using the appropriate standard equipment&nbsp; &nbsp;</li><li>Ensure standards and the quality of laboratory outcomes, by strictly following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assigned duties.</li><li>Adhere to bio-safety measures adopted in the laboratory, minding the safety of oneself and others.</li><li>Assist technical personnel for accurate, efficient and timely delivery of laboratory results by receiving and processing request forms, data entry, scheduling of clients, printing and submitting laboratory test reports.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist in documenting and keeping records of laboratory activities in an organized and easily retrievable manner, as well as maintaining the laboratory database.</li><li>Support the laboratory stock management and monitoring by verifying that equipment and consumables are sufficient for the anticipated daily work.&nbsp;</li><li>Participate in updating of SOPs as needed.</li><li>Participate in the improvement of laboratory services according to adopted work plan in the laboratory.</li><li>Perform such other duties as may be assigned&nbsp;</li></ol>
