The African Union (AU), established as a unique Pan African continental body, was charged with the responsibility to coordinate and provide overall guidance for the negotiations on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The AfCFTA entered into force on 30 May 2019.
The Communications Specialist will be working on all levels of cooperation; on continental level, he/she will be working with and providing support to the component leads and continental partners, the AUC and the AfCFTA secretariat. Regionally, the communications advisor will provide support to advisors to the Regional Economic communities (EAC, ECOWAS and SADC), The programme also has eight focus countries through which national level support to the negotiation and implementation of the AfCFTA is provided. The communication advisor provides support to the advisors on the ground as well as partner organizations on communication-related matters upon request.
