Chemonics International seeks experienced professionals for the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. GHSC-PSM in Ethiopia will serve as vehicle through which USAID will procure and furnish health commodities, provide technical assistance to improve the country’s management of health supply chain and pharmacy service activities, and collaborate with key international stakeholders to support global and local health initiatives.
The project is currently seeking a qualified ‘short term consultant for the preparation of a Drug Use Evaluation (DUE) Reports Compendium’. S/he will be responsible to coordinate the design, preparation, and finalization of the DUE compendium of GHSC-PSM project in Ethiopia. S/he will also review abstracts/articles for individual DUE findings and synthesis reports by public health programs/task orders in a scientific way. S/he will hold discussions with original reporters, technical staffs of the project, as needed, to get additional information and receive feedbacks and comments. The consultant will be responsible in conducting literature reviews, guidelines, standards, and other materials to be used in the process of developing the compendium. Short term Consultant for Compilation of Drug Use Evaluations (DUE)
USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project
Background
The purpose of the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities in support of United States Government (USG)-funded public health initiatives around the world. The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and Population and Reproductive Health programs. In supporting the USG-funded global health activities, GHSC-PSM will develop and manage a wide array of services for health commodity procurement and related systems strengthening technical assistance encompassing different elements of a comprehensive supply chain.
At the country level, GHSC-PSM supports country’s strategies and priorities that fall under the following three project objectives:
Purpose
The USAID GHSC-PSM project has been working to strengthen health facilities, regional health bureaus and Ministry of Health to conduct Drug Use Evaluations (DUE) and ensure rational drug use and proper supply chain management. As the findings of DUEs that were conducted in different facilities showed the interdependence of the supply chain management and the pharmaceutical services, GHSC-PSM has considered it as one of its priority health system strengthening interventions. GHSC-PSM supported DUE activities focusing on major public health program medicines and priority disease conditions. Currently, multiple DUE reports are available. To better communicate these reports with wider audience and facilitate knowledge and experience sharing, it is found necessary to develop a compendium/book of DUE reports and publish.
