Task Description: Consultant will serve as the Staff Wellbeing Consultant, working with the Country Director, HR leads at regional and country level and the country program senior management team (SMT). Specifically, the Staff Wellbeing Consultant will complete the following tasks as per the scope of the role.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to the Country Director, with support from Regional HRBP, and technical support of HQ MHPSS TU (TBC)
Responsibilities:
· To advise and collaborate with Ethiopia’s HR department, regional HR and SMT to develop a holistic Country staff care strategy and a contextually appropriate (i.e., working in ongoing conflict / protracted / emergency context during a COVID-19 response) wellbeing staff package, that can be rolled out across IMC country office to support all staff, with particular focus to frontline responders in Tigray response and isolated field sites such as Dollo and Gambella. · To provide recommendations for an organizational framework for long-term promotion of staff wellbeing · To lead the identification and development of staff care services and emergency interventions in the areas of self-care, resilience, stress management and psychological trauma response for IMC staff. · Support in-country recruitment processes for two new staff wellbeing officers, one to support Tigray team and the other for the field sites outside of Tigray. · To work closely with the regional HR in mentoring HR team, and especially the Staff Wellbeing Officers (SWOs) in-country to ensure wellbeing staff package adequately supports all staff in an inclusive, non-discriminatory way, including ensuring ease of access to support and confidentiality of use of services. · To equip senior management team (SMT) and supervisors with guidance, tools, resources and training to support staff resilience and productivity, ensure good-quality communication and accurate information updates are provided to all staff (e.g. this could include rotating workers from higher-stress to lower-stress functions; implement flexible schedules for workers who are directly impacted or who have a family member impacted by a stressful event; ensure that time is built in for colleagues to provide social support to each other). · Design psychoeducation/informative group sessions and materials that can be cascaded via training / coaching to national staff wellbeing officers for them to be confident and empowered to run the staff wellbeing program by the end of month 3. · To provide technical support, coaching and supervision of the national staff wellbeing officers to deliver the staff wellbeing activities inside and outside of Tigray. · Potential to deliver, when necessary, individual / group support sessions to international and national staff.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Staff Wellbeing Program development and implementation
1. Mapping of staff needs / knowledge / coping strategies: conduct a rapid assessment of current IMC locations, activities, any ongoing staff wellbeing initiatives and current staff wellbeing needs and coping strategies in light of the Tigray response and at isolated field sites with resident staffs. 2. Development of staff wellbeing framework for IMC staff: based on the mapping of working environment, staff needs and knowledge, develop a staff wellbeing framework that can be taken forward after the end of this consultancy. 3. Staff wellbeing training package and mentorship: Co-develop and support how a “staff wellbeing package” within the Tigray response context could be delivered, including indicating the contents of such a package, for all IMC staff that supports them to maintain good physical and mental health, thereby protecting them from “burn out” and ensuring they can work optimally to support IMC beneficiaries. Provide an adapted package for field sites outside of Tigray that have easier communication and physical access. 4. Facilitate recruitment of Staff Wellbeing Officers (SWOs): In coordination with country HR team, support identification and recruitment of two national staffs that will take on the role of Staff Wellbeing Officers, who will report to the Snr. HR & Admin Manager. 5. Mentorship of national Staff Wellbeing Officer team: Orient and induct the two SWOs, work closely with and capacitate them to lead the delivery of the staff wellbeing activities in side Tigray and other field sites based on identified needs. Provide technical performance evaluation of the SWOs at the end of the engagement. Provide linkage with regional HRBP and Conterra: Due to limited internet connectivity in Tigray and the need to generate offline materials for the Tigray SWO, in liaison with the regional HRBP, source and adapt relevant materials from Conterra and elsewhere for use inside Tigray and other field sites where remote or online support for group or individual therapy sessions may not be |
· Graduate degree psychosocial health, social work, psychology (clinical), psychiatry or a related degree. Experience in Human Resources or Organizational Psychology is a plus.
· 5 – 7 years of professional experience with at least 3 years work experience in emergency or humanitarian relief, trauma, human resources, occupational mental health or psychosocial support
Job Requirements:
· Demonstrated successful experience in delivering stress and trauma management or psychosocial services which preferably includes working with people in multi-cultural and multi-lingual environments
· Strong training, presentation and facilitation skills
· Excellent writing, policy development and communication skills
· Formal training or working knowledge in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
· Ability to work in a high-stress, rapidly changing environment with professional and a positive approach
· Demonstrated consultative leadership style and problem-solving approach that promotes social support, flexibility, and team cohesion
· Ability to develop a scalable strategy and apply creative and innovative techniques to address staff care needs in a remote management and emergency context
· Excellent listening skills and ability to build trust and operate with highest standards of integrity
· Fluency in English a requirement, knowledge of Amharic an added advantage
