Job Description
Introduction
Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) is a local civil society development organization that works with other organizations to promote and facilitate mainstream government and non-governmental health service delivery accessible to persons with disabilities.
ECDD is currently implementing projects promoting the inclusion of persons with disability in several ways. ECDD, in its current implementation of the MBMF project with a theme of disability-inclusive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and SRHR information for adults and youths with disabilities, is looking for Inclusive Health Services project officer to be located in Bahirdar town with frequent travel to respective several My body My future (MbMf) project implementation areas in Amhara region.
Major Responsibilities & Tasks:
The Inclusive Health Services Project Officer is expected to:
1. Reports to the ECDD’s inclusive Health Services Project coordinator and Inclusive Health Program Team Lead and Regional Manager.
2. Prepare a detailed work plan and implement the MbMf project activities under the ECDD's Inclusive SRH services projects in conjunction with ECDD branch-Regional office at Bahir Dar and the inclusive health program team at the ECDD head office
3. Provide technical support to Plan International Ethiopia MbMf project partners working in the area and SRH groups of government bodies; in designing, implementing of Disability inclusive SRH services for AYWDs, and advocating for SRHR services
4. Work closely with other Plan international Ethiopia MbMf project partners, and in consultation with ECDD’s Inclusive Health Project Coordinator and Program Team Lead in creating, designing production of accessible IEC/BCC materials and need-based trainings
5. Organize trainings and events such as Disability Inclusion Awareness trainings, and promote SRHR at project implementation areas in the region in collaboration with other implementing partners, Organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), and service providers, in order to increase the knowledge, attitude, and ensure Disability inclusive in concepts and inclusive SRH service delivery.
6. Represent ECDD and actively participate in task forces/clusters and technical partners established locally to ensure Disability inclusion & Adults and Youths SHR programs.
7. Establish /strengthen a strong network and work closely with OPDs, CBR workers, CSOs, Youth clubs, Youth Associations, and other relevant partners working on youth and AYSRH programs and oversee the disability Inclusion efforts and progress of projects.
8. Hold trainings and events with/for OPDs and other partners in the intervention areas to increase persons with disabilities' understanding, attitudes, and practices about available SRH services and their right to access services.
9. Participate in ECDD Annual Activity and Budget Plan preparation, prepare operational plan, track budget utilization, cooperate in any demanding activities and take part in execution of other projects activities; participate in meetings arranged by ECDD’s branch-Regional Office.
10. Ensure timely submission of reports to the ECDD, donors, and key government signatories, including but not limited to the Bureaus of Labor and Social Affairs and Health Bureaus.
11. Identify and promote innovative technologies accessible to persons with disabilities and ensure utilization among persons with disabilities.
12. Monitoring, documenting and sharing MBMF’s program specific results implemented by ECDD at project intervention areas.
13. Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
14. In cooperation with the ECDD Safeguarding Focal Person, ensure that project personnel and partners follow the ECDD Child and Adults-at-Risk Policy.
15. Carry out any other tasks that the Inclusive health project coordinator, the Regional Manager, the team lead, and Program Director may delegate.
Job Requirement
1. Educational background: BA/BSC/MPH in Reproductive Health, BA in inclusive/special needs education
2. Work experience: 2 to 5 years, with a minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience working in the field of education, preferably on inclusive education; disability inclusion program, implementing adolescent and youth programs notably AYWDs
3. Experience working with local and/or international NGOs in implementing disability inclusion, promoting special need, inclusive education/program or projects
4. Desirable:- He/she must come with sufficient knowledge of workings in the NGO sector and the disability inclusion at national and regional levels. He/she must be knowledgeable of issues around AYRH policies and strategies at national and sub-national levels.
5. Computer skill in relevant software is desired
6. Possess excellent interpersonal relationships and teamwork
7. Possess excellent communication skills
8. Able and willing to travel to several locations in the target region on a regular basis
9. Fluency in English and Amharic language, or Ethiopian Sign Language and other local language
