Job Summary:
The job holder for this post is required to work as team member of the Gonder program office management team. Supervises the work of field finance department with regards to accounting methods, ensures internal financial controls are implemented, responsible for timely reporting to Country office on cash flow, payroll rosters, monthly financial reports and maintaining all financial and administrative records according to accounting standards and IMC practices.
Job Responsibility · Ensures field accounting reports are submitted on time and complete. · Reviews field accounting reports, including Cash and Bank Transaction Journals, Cash and Bank Reconciliations, and Bank Statement ensuring correctness and completeness of the records. · Prepares monitors and analyses monthly financial reports including cost point data entry. · Ensures that all entries are properly documented, and all transactions are backed up with complete required documentation that is properly dated and signed. · Maintains bank and cash transaction journal and informs · Prepares check request vouchers and payment vouchers ensuring that all supporting documents are completed before payment. · Allocate expenses to various grants as per policy. · Prepares and sends and monthly plan of cash requirements to the Country Office. · Assists with audits and checking internal controls of field sites by regular visits to be arranged with Field Office Manager and FAD. · Responsible for custody of cash in the office and cash disbursements. Makes sure that backup documentation for cash disbursements is duly approved and on file prior to making cash payments. · Participate in the preparation/review of monthly financial reports. · Review and account for procurement transactions submitted by the logistic team to ensure adequate supporting documentation, the accuracy of amounts, and control overpayments. · Prepares payment request documents, review documentation for completeness, and signs “prepared by” on the payment voucher indicating that the cash and voucher have been accurately prepared, the transaction is authorized by a budget-holder, the documentation is complete and accurate, there are sufficient funds in the bank, correctly coded and the cost is allowable. · Responsible for the remittance of the statutory deductions such as Income tax, Pension and PF deposit · Assist in internal audit, external audit, and donor specific audit assignments and response for their quires · Scanning documents · Other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor |
Education:
· Bachelor Degree in Finance &Accounting, Economics, or relevant field.
Experience:
· Minimum 4 years’ experience directly related to financial management or accountancy, preferably with an international organization (NGO)
· knowledge of English language writing and speaking
· Proficiency in financial Accounting software, like Cost Point, etc & MS Excel and MS Word as well as good grasp on Internet and email communication.
· Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines
