National Biogas Programme of Ethiopia (NBPE) has been under implementation since 2009. The programme was started in four regions of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR and Tigray and expand the coverage to nine regions in 2017 by including Afar, B/Gumuz, Gambella, Somali and Sidama regions. The programme first two phases (NBPE I & NBPE II) was funded by DGIS and the government of Ethiopia while the current programme, Biogas Dissemination and Scale-Up Programme of Ethiopia (NBPE+) is run through the support of European Union (EU) and government of Ethiopia through MoF.
Consultancy Objective
The assignment is a Bio-digester Users’ Survey (BUS) of National Biogas Programme of Ethiopia (NBPE) for assessing the socio-economic and environmental impacts of the programme and providing feedback to the programme stakeholders as well as for the monitoring and reporting purpose under CDM PoA.
The core team of 3 members must have the following qualification and field of expertise:
The consultant will include an appropriate number of field numerators. For this, following are must criteria:
a) They must travel in a team of two, so that they help each other, to ensure the survey quality is maintained and gender issues addressed
b) At least one of the two in a field team, must be fluent in the language of the region or even zones, the team will be working in; and
c) The field numerators must be at least with bachelor’s degree.
The preferred and relevant experience of the numerators (working as field numerators in similar assignments) will be an advantage.
Except the data collection in the field and data entry in the data collection platform, the rest of the work shall be carried out by the core team.
CVs of the team members, including those of the numerators, must be submitted in the proposal. Any replacement must be done through a prior written approval of SNV.
