About the Social Enterprise:
Whiz Kids Workshop is an Ethiopian-led, innovative social enterprise that focuses on improving the lives of children and youth through educational media, capacity strengthening and community engagement. We believe that mass-media is the most cost-effective and immediate way to spark imaginations and make an impact on. We use existing research on mass-media education, new lower-cost technologies for media creation, and the wide reach of television, radio, print and cell phones to put that belief into practice. Our content covers topics that include literacy, health education, character building and social-emotional learning to prepare children and youth for success in life.
Whiz Kids has produced three television series that inspire, engage and empower children, youth and families. WKW follows a Life Cycle approach to drive knowledge, attitude and practice across all members of the society. WKW implements 4 local innovative and tested platforms namely Tsehai for Families (pregnancy to age 7), Tsehai Loves Learning (for children aged 3-10), Tibeb Girls (for adolescents aged 11-18), Youth Investigators (for youth above age 18) and Better Wellbeing Advocacy that advocates major developmental needs of each life cycles to policy makers and existing governmental structures. Applying our User-Centered Design and Youth Content Advisory methodologies, we produce culturally relevant and educational audio-video, print, text, and internet based content to utilize mass media and technology to reach the four different life cycles. By utilizing these contents, we implement projects in various settings in the community to ensure the target groups have the necessary soft and technical skills to help them reach their full potential.

About the Job:
Whiz Kids Workshop is looking for a qualified Program Director for existing and upcoming projects. The Director will be responsible for managing and coordinating the 4 innovations of WKW projects at the federal, regional, woreda, kebele, and household levels. and staff by Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning programming, ensuring effective systems and processes are in place that support high-quality programming.
The Director will provide overall leadership, direction, guidance, coaching, and direct and indirect supervision, be responsible for technical leadership and administrative oversight of the project and ensure that the program complies with all regulatory requirements. S/he shall have a keen understanding of the political dynamics and work carefully and collaboratively towards improving the impact of the program. S/he will manage a team of Program Officers, and engage with stakeholders and ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of all products and activities generated under the grant. The director will monitor and report on all project activities in support of WKW work to ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and continuously works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve. S/he will also lead the monitoring and verification of intervention and outcome quality across implementation areas by conducting periodic assessments of the quality of interventions delivered by the implementation teams and providing improvement suggestions.
This full-time position will report to the Chief Operating Officer and work closely with our Program Department.
Responsibility
Project Monitoring
Provide management, guidance, and technical oversight for WKW strategies in line with Donor Guidance and WKW quality principles and standards, MEAL Policies and Procedures, and industry best practices.
Provide programming and systems support in formative research annual planning, budget development, redesigning, monitoring and evaluation and report writing
Direct and oversee grant implementation, ensuring that all strategic objectives are met through proper design, staffing, implementation and quality assurance.
Ensure timely collection, processing, entry, processing, review and collation of project data for routine monitoring indicators
Participate in the development and standardization of forms and tools to collect relevant disaggregated data on project monitoring indicators, effects, and impacts
Oversee project implementation on sites and Work with WKW Regional Officers to ensure the effective implementation of the project, data quality assessments, understand the recommendations for remedial action, and implement the recommendations.
Contribute to development and execution of in-depth implementation plans of project data for publications, and presentation to various audiences.
Provide vision and strategic technical leadership for the project
Supervise a team of national staff with skills across a diverse set of technical areas including resilience, youth programming, gender integration, food security, nutrition, WASH, monitoring and evaluation and social and behavior change.
Make periodic on-site supervision along with client teams and WKW staff and generate timely reports.
Data Quality Assurance
Perform data cleaning and verify the authenticity and accuracy of the data before reporting to the donor.
Work closely with Program Officer and Regional Program Officers to develop and/or review project data collections, analysis plan, dissemination aids, templates, and mobile data gathering tools.
Writing quarterly progress and annual results reports, and processing, review and submission of project data through various databases including USAID mission’s database.
Writing/editing guidelines/SOPs for processes
Carry out data quality assessments to review quality of data at project level.
Reporting
Establish and maintain effective project reporting, evaluation, and communication systems.
Submit timely accurate and professional reports that meet donor requirements.
Work closely with other staff to produce high-quality data and progress reports as per the reporting intervals (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually), with strict adherence to standards and timelines.
Consolidation of reporting information across WKW, and donor staff by ensuring data quality and consistency across donor required M&E documents.
Lead the timely and quality preparation and submission of the project reports as per the requirements.
Coordination and Advisory
Coordination and implementation of program evaluations/assessments such as baseline and annual surveys, mid-term and final evaluations, and special studies and operations research.
Work closely with donor staff in and implementing partners in Addis Ababa and Regional offices.
Plan on the project monitoring and evaluation activities and provide support to technical teams and partners.
Act as focal point person of projects for WKW.
Should be able to achieve results through partners.
Collaboration, Learning and Adapting
Leverage lessons learned, best practices, program data, evaluations, and other information to generate donor communication pieces, proposal annexes, success stories, case studies, and other high-quality, results-based documentation.
Help identify and facilitate opportunities that will help learning into adaptation.
Champion collaboration, learning and adaptation within the project and in partnership with regional and national stakeholders.
Establish clear and frequent communication regarding program progress and oversight with the management.
Consistently look for more effective and efficient implementation methods and opportunities to increase impact.
Manage project budgets within approved spending levels and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to Management and donors.
Capacity Building
Coordinate the development of program learning - identify opportunities for learning, research and publications in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning. Facilitate the dissemination of promising practices and lessons learned to contribute to the agency knowledge management agenda. Ensure integration of innovations and best practices.
Coordinate technical assistance and capacity strengthening activities in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning for staff and partner organizations to enhance program quality and impact.
Provide technical assistance to build the capacity of staff in detailed implementation, data management, analysis, and Narrative reports.
Qualification:
A Master's degree in business administration, social work, rural development, International relation or other relevant subjects with strong quantitative background
At least Seven years of experience in progressively increasing M&E responsibility in international development projects with at least 3 years in a senior managerial position.
Proven ability to manage large, complex development programs in challenging field contexts technical assistance teams
Strong conceptual knowledge about theories of change, logic model, food and nutrition security indicators, M&E plan, data quality assurance, data utilization, and gender integration into M&E
Demonstrated experience and expertise in developing and operationalizing a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation plan
Demonstrated expertise and experience in developing and operationalizing routine monitoring systems designed to track both output and outcome indicators.
Demonstrated success incorporating innovation and participatory, flexible, and gender-sensitive programming into implementation.
Experience in leading formative research and/or evaluation initiatives
Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
Ability to integrate teams of professionals around common goals.
Be prepared to travel to implementation sites and regional, global meetings as required
Previously managed USAID funded projects especially on SBC sector will be a plus

Skill:
Strong presentation and report writing skills
Proficient in using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Mastery of Excel is an added advantage
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to make sound judgment and decisions and offer innovative solutions
