Terms of Reference for Training On Entrepreneurship, Team Management and Leadership, Sales, Saving and Credit, and Post-Harvestfor Women Groundnut Technology Groups, Das, local multipliers and Keble Administration Staffs 1. Introduction Groundnut producing women farmers face a variety of burdens related to the process of shelling groundnuts, important component of their livelihoods. These burdens include the amount of time and labor required to shell groundnuts by hand, as well as health issues (damage to the mouth and hands) arising from the practice.
Recognizing these issues, Oxfam America initiated a project to introduce and promote simple, efficient groundnut Sheller’s to reduce the burdens faced by women groundnut producers in East Harerge, Oromia and Hareri National Regional states.
The 18-month project is funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. 142 wooden and 10 metal made groundnuts Sheller’s have been manufactured and distributed to the group formed in the project area. The project operates in two neighboring regions (2 pilot woredas of Oromia , Gursum and Babile and Harari Region) in the 17 kebeles so as to addresses 1080 women groundnuts producers which have been organized in to 118 groups of 10 members each.
The women’s groups and DAs in the project’s targeted Farmer Training Centers (FTCs) require training on gender basics, entrepreneurship, team management and leadership ,by-law formation , marketing, saving and credit and post-harvest to enhance their skills in the area of entrepreneurship and business management groundnut handling. Oxfam America and the implementing government stakeholders have agreed to organize these trainings out of town in central and accessible locations in the 3 project areas. The training will be offered in the local language ( Afan Oromo). 2. Objectives of the Assignment
To train the women’s groups, selected DAs , local multipliers and delegates from kebele administration on Entrepreneurship, saving &credit , Team Management and Leadership

3. Activities to be Performed by the consultant

6. Logistical Requirements and organization
Oxfam will cover stationery items and refreshment/ per diem related cost during the training for the participants.
Oxfam and focal persons will facilitate logistics related to the training including arranging the training venues , inviting the trainees, etc
The Consultant is responsible to cover transport costs (from Addis to the project location) and other expenses like accommodation of its staff/ trainers
7. Requirements: The consulting firm/ team of individual consultants should have experience in conducting training on gender, entrepreneurship, Team management and leadership, marketing, saving and credit. As the language of the target community is Afaan Oromo, the training will be facilitated in Afaan Oromo for better delivery of the training messages.
The consultant team should have the below qualification and competencies:
A minimum of MA/MSc in Agri-business or agricultural economics or agriculture development studies or other relevant social sciences and expertise in gender
The team should consist of agricultural economist or other experts from relevant social science fields, and gender specialist.
Excellent report writing skills in English language,
The team of consultants should be fluent in Afaan Oromo
8. Application Deadline The consulting firm/Team of Consultants should submit technical and financial proposals by Aug 6, 2014 during office hours to Oxfam America Horn of Africa Regional Office/ Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, Bole Road, DH Geda Tower, 5th floor As part of the technical proposal, the consulting firm shall attach copies of:
Renewed business license;
VAT registration certificate and other legal documents;
Curriculum vitae of the proposed professionals
9. Consultancy fee Payment Schedule:
First Installment 30% up on signature of the agreement
Final installment 70% up on receiving the final report
