The U.S. Mission Addis Ababa is seeking an individual for the position of Commercial Assistant in the Commerce Office of the Embassy.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent Performs research, contact and reporting assignments in promoting U.S. trade objectives in Ethiopia for assigned industry sectors. Provides market information and trade promotion assistance to U.S. firms in assigned industry sectors of moderate complexity. Maintains close contact with a wide range of working-level and mid-level private and public sector officials in assigned sectors.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree or host country equivalent in economics, accounting, marketing, international trade or business administration is required.
Required Experience: At least three years of responsible work experience in sales, marketing, business management, trade promotion, market/economic research or information management environment within the Ethiopian market is required.
Language Requirement: Level IV (fluency – speaking/reading/writing) in English and Amharic are required. (English language proficiency will be tested)
Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the domestic economy, commercial and industrial structures, business and industry customs and practices and trade and investment laws, regulations and policies. Thorough understanding of Commercial Services’ trade promotion goals, programs and procedures, marketing strategies and reporting requirements is required.
Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal skill is required. Incumbent must have a good computer skill to use FCS database and Office Software such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
