The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC has mainly focused on Somalis who are displaced by conflict. The regional Office is based in Kenya and we have offices and operations in Somalia, Puntland, Somaliland, Kenya, Yemen and Ethiopia.
Purpose
The Intern/Programme Assistant is expected to get practical experience and provide support to the Programme/Grants Management Unit in the following activities: -
Key Responsibilities:
Programme and project development
Support and assist in the drafting of Concept Notes and Project Proposals
Assist in gathering all relevant programme inputs for proposals/project development and ensure that projects are based on solid incorporation of field based staff
Fundraising
Support general fundraising efforts
Conduct research on potential fundraising options
Filing/Administration
Ensure proper filing/archive for the Ethiopia program
Assist in general organizational tasks
Monitoring and evaluation
Assist in the coordination of all monitoring and evaluation efforts in DRC Ethiopia, share and collect relevant information and assist in the cooperation between DRC Ethiopia and regional program entities
Reporting
Support the Grants Management Officer and Grants Management Team at the Regional office with relevant information from the monitoring and evaluation work
Assist in gathering/monitoring information for donor reports
Assist in preparing reports/documents to authorities
Any other responsibility assigned to

Personal Specifications
Essential:
University degree or advanced training/courses in international affairs, sociology, humanitarian or other related field;
Strong initiative and self-motivation, with a commitment to teamwork;
Ability to multi-task and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines;
Excellent computer skills and experience working with databases;
