META ABO BREWERY IS LOOKING TO RECRUIT NEW SHIFT MANAGERS FOR ITS PACKAGING FACILITY IN SEBETA.
Context/Scope In January 2012, Diageo purchased the Meta Abo Brewery, formerly a state-owned business based in Sebeta, with a rich history in Ethiopia. From its brewery in Sebeta, it produces and distributes its flagship national lager brands Meta classic, Meta Premium and Malta Guinness. Over the past 2,5 years Meta Abo Brewery has significantly invested behind capacity expansion and as a result the company is looking to recruit new staff. The packaging line operations will include both packaging as well as engineering activities on a 24 hour basis.
Key Accountabilities
Supervise, prioritise and coordinate all activities of shift team workers, including operational and project manage maintenance, people management and administrative tasks to ensure that all products required are produced to target volumes and specifications with best possible efficiencies and optimum KPI’s.
Control cost of packaging by minimising process waste, maximising efficiencies and taking appropriate actions to reduce downtime and improve quality.
Develop & deliver superb performance against targets through effective problem solving, decision-making and communication between shift teams, and aligned, planned activity with engineering, customer services and supply planning. This includes championing and supporting manufacturing excellence initiatives.
Lead embedding of the company’s health, safety, quality, environment and hygiene standards for the protection of company products, staff and assets in the packaging environment.
Manage team’s individual training & development within clear improvement plans to drive performance and efficiencies towards world class standards.
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Experience Required
Science or Engineering Degree (or equivalent);
Four years of experience in packaging and / or operations with a track record of delivering sustainable improvements in production efficiency and quality, particularly through effective people management and development;
Knowledge of world class manufacturing practices;
Proven track record in prioritisation of resources to meet key targets, while setting high standards & stretching goals for self & others to exceed internal & external customer needs;
Structured problem evaluation & solving skills and ready to make decisions, take the initiative and action;
Fluency in Amharic and good written and spoken English is required;
Flexibility to work in 24 hour shifts;
High level of energy and commitment to team based achievement and high interpersonal effectiveness to develop & sustain robust relationships.
