The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, is inviting applications for the above position.
PURPOSE OF THE POST IN SNNPR Region, accountable for professional technical contribution to project design, planning, administration, monitoring and evaluation of Nutrition programme/project activities, data analysis and progress reporting, and commitment for enhancement of teamwork and capacity building, in support of achievement of planned objectives of the work plan, aligned with country programme goals and strategy, with emphasis on addressing gender inequalities.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POST INCLUDE: Within the delegated authority and under the given organizational set-up, the incumbent may be assigned the primary, shared, or contributory accountabilities for all or part of the following areas of major duties and key end-results.
1. Programme/Project Management
Ensure the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for effective Nutrition programme and project design, addressing gender inequalities and determinants of gender equality where relevant in implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation. Draft sound Nutrition programme budgets for review by the supervisor.
2. Project Efficiency and Effectiveness
Enhance programme efficiency and effectiveness through implementation follow-on, including gender-specific monitoring of UNICEF inputs, local conditions and resources, flow of supply and non-supply assistance and Nutrition programme status.
3. Work Plan and Project Documentation Collect and analyze data and information and prepare progress reports using agreed upon gender indicators where needed; assist in drafting changes in Nutrition programme work plans where and in identification of required supplies and equipment as well as in the drafting of Country Programme Recommendation and other project documentation, assuring accuracy and consistency with established rules, regulations and plans of action.
4. Project Implementation Information and Data Management Ensure the appropriateness of financial, administrative and supply documentation; verify that Nutrition programme expenditures are within allotments and that data is consistent with the project information and database (e.g., FLS, ProMS). Follow up on queries or initiate corrective action on discrepancies.
5. Knowledge Sharing Compile Nutrition programme implementation training and orientation materials to promote knowledge sharing with donors and media.
6. Communication and Networking Ensure effective communication and networking is developed and maintained through partnership and collaboration, with particular emphasis on understanding gender inequalities and on practicing gender mainstreaming where applicable.
Collaborate with Operations staff to implement internal control systems and resolve day-to-day issues or discrepancies in financial or supply management.
Team with local Government counterparts to exchange information on Nutrition programme implementation and status as well as movement and distribution of supplies.
Help coordinate with members of the development community, including NGOs, UN and bilateral agencies exchange of information relating to the Nutrition sector.
Job Requirement
Education requirements: University degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Public Health & Nutrition, Health Sciences, International Health & Nutrition, Public Health & Nutrition Policy and Management, Family and Community Health & Nutrition, Nutritional Epidemiology, Health & Nutrition Education, Health & Nutrition Promotion and Disease Prevention, Public Health Preparedness, Health Emergency Preparedness, or other relevant discipline(s).
Training in gender and in nutrition programmes that promote gender equality an asset.
Work Experience: Two years of relevant professional work experience. Field work experience and familiarity with resilience programming
Experience in monitoring gender inequalities and in programming interventions that reduce the disparities is an asset.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and language of duty station a must
Nationality: Candidates should be NATIONALS of Ethiopia.
