JOB SUMMARY:
The Livelihood coordinator, based at woreda agriculture office, is responsible for the livelihood and economic strengthening and nutrition component of the USAID funded Empowering New Generations to Improve Nutrition and Economic opportunities (ENGINE)-An Integrated and development oriented nutrition program at Zonal, Woreda and community levels. S/he will coordinate, supervise and provide technical assistance for the implementation of ENGINE livelihood and economic strengthening and nutrition activities; actively participate and strengthen nutrition multisectoral coordination specifically with the agriculture sector; identify strategies and facilitate the implementation of nutrition sensitive agricultural activities among vulnerable households. The incumbent will be expected to establish support and partnership with local actors and smallholder farmers to improve livelihoods and increased nutritional values. In addition, s/he will facilitate linkages with other agricultural, health and nutrition programs, international NGOs, private sector businesses, and government agencies; build local capacity through mentorship and training of woreda, kebele sector offices and the targeted households/community. The position holder will be responsible to mobilize target beneficiaries in support of program activities and ensuring sustainability; and will ensure that project related data and reports are submitted in project formats on timely basis.
Job Requirement
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED To be considered for the post, applicants need to have Bachelor's degree or above in Animal Science or Plant Science preferably horticulture with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience implementing livelihoods and economic development programs, with significant experience supporting diverse economic strengthening activities such as homestead gardening and animal production. S/he must have significant experience in community mobilization in support of agriculture and economic development programs. Experience in nutrition program has comparative advantage. Applicants must have Experience working with private sector, government agencies and beneficiaries on livelihoods programs; needs to be experienced in conducting trainings, training of trainers, and organizational capacity building. S/he must have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the proven ability to work collaboratively with many organizations and stakeholders; Ability to travel throughout the focus regions and other rural areas as needed; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, spoken and written English and local language.
