Job Purpose :
The purpose of the survey enumerator job is to ensure that appropriate, accurate, quality data is collected for Concern’s programmes, intervention areas, programme participants and stakeholders on a timely basis, through the effective implementation of data collection processes as directed by the MEAL and programme units. The post will also play a major role in supporting the MEAL and programme units’ database management systems and contribute to ensuring high quality data storage.
Duties and Responsibilities Assist MEAL Unit in collecting data as per the programme requirements for baseline, midline and end-line surveys and assessments. • Facilitate and attend enumerators’ training workshops as required and receive enumeration materials and equipment from the principal facilitator or MEAL Unit • Participate in carrying out surveys and assessments from planning to survey completion stage • Develop an enumeration field schedule/itinerary • Seek out respondents who fit the suggested profiles in assigned locations and collect data based on questionnaires developed and supplied by the MEAL or Programme units. • Gather and accurately record responses on questionnaires or on digital data gathering (DDG) device provided by the MEAL team • Have oversight of enumerators hired on a daily basis, ensuring their questionnaires are properly carried out, checking them on a daily basis and providing feedback. • Ensure that the DDGs are synchronized for each questionnaire and that all forms are completely downloaded. • Ensure that all questionnaires and equipment are accounted for. • Submit completed questionnaires and other equipment used in fieldwork to the MEAL or Programme team and will, if required to do so, compile his/her findings in a format required by the programme. • As part of each assignment, participate in briefings; carry out data collection, data entry and/or reporting. • Recognize and give account of problems in obtaining data and provide useful feedback from field research activities • Work according to the programme’s needs and on a project-by-project basis as requested by the MEAL Unit. • Support Concern’s database management system as requested by the MEAL Unit • Support the MEAL and programme teams in documentation filing • Undertake any requests as reasonably requested The survey enumerators are required to have the following core gender competencies: • Demonstrate understanding of Concern Ethiopia’s Gender Equality Strategy, • Contribute to ensuring that concern Ethiopia is a place where men and women are treated equally and with dignity and respect • Demonstrate gender equality awareness and gender sensitivity and an ability to integrate a gender equality perspective into tasks and activities. • Ensure careful consideration of programme methodologies to ensure that both men and women are included in the process, while simultaneously ensuring that women’s workload does not increase • Ensure that all reports produced by the MEAL unit contain analysis reflecting progression in relation to gender equality Gender Equity Demonstrate understanding of Concern Ethiopia’s Gender Equality Strategy · Contribute to ensuring that Concern Ethiopia is a place where men and women are treated equally and with dignity and respect. Person Specification :
A Diploma or degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, health, nutrition, WASH, Business, Agriculture or the Social Sciences;
• Experience in data collection, administering questionnaires and conducting interviews, data collection and data entry;
• Experience in data management system and use of appropriate statistical software packages
• Experience or knowledge of relevant sectors like health, nutrition, agriculture, WASH and rural development
• Willingness to learn and explore new experiences
• Experience in humanitarian programming in addition to development programming is an advantage
• Fluency in speaking and understanding English and relevant local language of Concern operational regions
