About British Council Ethiopia

Our office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia was established in 1943.  Since that time we have engaged with generations of young people through a diverse range of educational and cultural programmes.

We work with our partners, both Ethiopian and from the UK, to showcase excellence, innovation and creativity. We work for the benefit of the individual and for the mutual benefit of the UK and Ethiopia.

We have a dedicated team of professionals working in the areas of English, Education & Society and the Arts to bring you the best of the UK experience. At the British Council in Addis Ababa we have a team of 45 professionals at your service.

The British Council teaching centre meets the aspirations of professionals in Ethiopia by offering opportunities for English language training, professional networking and the development of skills for employability.

Across all this work we strive to provide a high quality, world class service – at the forefront of English language and professional development training in Ethiopia. 

British Council Ethiopia is housed in modern offices in Comoros Street, Addis Ababa. The environmentally-friendly building and garden ensure a pleasant atmosphere for our guests.

The teaching centre has three spacious training rooms and course participants are welcome to use the computers in the reception area.

Opening Hours

Monday to Friday 9 am - 7 pm

Saturday 1:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Please note that from Monday to Friday after 5:00 pm and on Saturdays, we will not conduct any financial transactions such as issuing receipts, cheques and receiving payments.
