About ANPPCAN African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) is a Pan-African child rights organization concerned with status of children in general and particular those in need of protection.  It was founded in 1986 in Enugu, Nigeria during the First African Conferences on Child Abuse and Neglect. ANPPCAN has an observer status with the AFRICAN UNION (AU) since 1990 and regularly attends the meetings of the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights. ANPPCAN-SOM is affiliated with the ANPPCAN and is registered in Somaliland and Somalia as non-governmental, non-profit making humanitarian organization with it is headquarter in Hargeisa, Somaliland. ANPPCAN-SOM has field offices in Garowe and Mogadishu.
ANPPCAN-SOM Chapter, more than any other organization in the country has been instrumental in lobbying and advocating the ratification and enforcement of the international conventions on children’s rights and well-being.  At national level, ANPPCAN-SOM is working out appropriate interventions for policy dialogue and legislative changes addressing the development of Somali Children in line with the International Charters and Conventions on Children’s Right. The slogan of ANPPCAN SOM is (Adults to Work, Children to School), thus giving the Somali children the right to education and development.
